So here in silence
I sit, and wonder
Maybe a musical riff
To help my mind go under
Beyond the surface
Scheming
Into the blue
Creative dreaming
Connected
This life electric
Is meaning more
From soul to gold
Truth be told
The age-old wisdom
Quiet in strength
Starting to think
Inside you hide
You’ll see
The whole world alive
In silence
Reflection
We’re surrounded by noise. Bouncing from screen to screen, scroll to scroll, meeting to meeting. Ads, articles and others all vying for our attention.
Noise pollution takes on new meaning in the age of digital consumption. As does the age-old wisdom that drove the first monks into solitude: Silence rejuvenates. Quiet brings us into strength.
I wrote this piece Monday morning before starting work, appreciating the moment. Now it’s Sunday and shoot, it was a tiring week full of noise.
The more noise we let in our lives, the more important it is to consistently seek pockets of silence. Otherwise you adapt to the noise. And normalizing it can knock you out later.
Adapting to noise desensitizes you to what it really feels like to be a healthy human. Silence reconnects and rewires you to your natural system.
Inside you hide, you’ll see. The whole world alive, in silence.
